Given my background, you can hardly imagine my excitement upon discovering this speaking opportunity. As a non-international department student, I see this as both a valuable self-challenge and a rare chance to learn from exceptional seniors.
Honestly, I wrestled with doubts. Though I won third prizes in two childhood English competitions (including the Star of Hope contest at 13), I'd never attempted a 10+ minute speech. Questions haunted me: "Can I really do this?""Will the gap with international students be too wide?" Yet ultimately, encouraged by mentors and driven by intellectual curiosity, I chose to embrace this challenge and document my growth journey.
Ten minutes demands extensive preparation - drafting, memorizing, and perfecting presentations. But I recall my younger self persevering through two grueling speeches despite the struggle. That memory fuels my determination to conquer self-doubt. My ultimate motivation remains clear: pushing boundaries to become my best self.
